Affiliate Marketing Strategies – Forum Marketing Do’s and Dont’s

David B Black asked:

Forum Marketing has been around for a long time, and is part of many successful affiliate marketers’ set of strategies. Why? Because it can be a fun and easy way to work, that brings results if done currently. In this article I am going to tell you the DO’s and DONT’s of forum marketing, to help you get started with this very effective way of building your affiliate income.

Dp nothing at first! If you’re already a regular at any forums, you’ll know what I mean by this. It’s quite irritating when newcomers to the forum start plugging their products 5 minutes after they join. You’re instantly regarded as a spammer, and you’ll get no respect – you’ll probably get your account deleted as well. The trick is to sign up to a forum, and spend a couple of days reading the threads, and figuring out what is acceptable behaviour and what isn’t. Figure out who are the main players in the forum. Only after you’ve got a feel for the forum should you begin posting.

DO Introduce yourself the right way. For example, don’t say “Hi everybody, I’m Joe Bloggs, I’m looking forward to learning….”. You don’t want to come across as a newbie – a better introduction would be to state that you look forward to contributing to the discussions and meeting the members of the forum.

DO Answer questions. If you don’t know the answers then try and find the answers – this way you will quickly gain respect and become regarded as an authority.

DON’T even mention your product until you’ve clocked up a few good posts. It’s usually okay to add your affiliate link to your signature once you’re proven to the other forum users that you’re a respectable contributor.

DON’T Spam the forum.

DON’T argue. Always keep your posts professional and polite. A little sense of humour goes a long way.

So there you have the Do’s and Dont’s of forum marketing. By sticking to these simple guidelines, and making sure your posts are always of high quality, you are sure to have a successful and rewarding experience of using forums as part of your affiliate marketing strategy.
